The short version
- On-device. Your Mind Weather, your notes, your climate — all of it stays on your iPhone.
- No account. There's nothing to sign up for. You open the app and begin.
- No tracking. Zero third-party analytics. No ad identifiers. No fingerprinting.
- Nothing sold, nothing trained. We don't sell your data, we don't share it with brokers, and we don't use it to train any AI model.
What stays on your device
Rainfall reads signals from Apple Health (HealthKit) and your Calendar (EventKit) — things like sleep duration, heart-rate variability, calendar density, and the time of day — to infer a Mind Weather read. That inference happens on your iPhone. The raw signals and the resulting read are not transmitted to us. The architecture is wired so the on-device modules that touch health data are physically unable to call the network. We enforce that boundary in CI.
Notes you write, corrections you tap, and your climate history are stored locally and, if you opt in, synced to your own iCloud through Apple's CloudKit. We never see them.
What we do receive
When you play a session, the app asks our catalog for an audio file by an opaque content id. We see the catalog request and your IP address (as any web request requires). We don't log the request to a user identifier — there isn't one. We don't know what weather you were in or what your day looked like. We only know that some device asked for some file.
If you subscribe to Rainfall Plus, your purchase is handled entirely by Apple's App Store. We receive a receipt token from Apple (which proves entitlement) but no payment information. See Apple's privacy policy.
Third parties
We use exactly these vendors, and only for the purposes named:
- Apple— App Store distribution, in-app purchases, optional iCloud sync. Apple's privacy policy applies.
- Cloudflare — serves the catalog index and audio files. Cloudflare sees the IP address of the request, like any CDN. No content of the request is personal data.
- Migadu— our email host, used to deliver messages you send us through the support form (if you include your address, so we can reply). We don't add you to any list or send marketing.
We do not use any third-party analytics, advertising, attribution, or marketing-automation SDK in the app. None.
Children
Rainfall is not directed to children under 13 and is not designed for them. If you believe a child has provided us information through the support form, write to privacy@rainfallmeditation.com and we'll delete it.
Your choices
- You can revoke HealthKit and Calendar permissions at any time in iOS Settings.
- You can delete all local Rainfall data by deleting the app. There is no server-side data to delete.
- We don't send marketing email, so there's no list to leave. Email you send through the support form is used only to reply.
Changes
If we materially change this policy we'll update the date at the top of this page before the change takes effect.
